Internet Classes

Registration for these hands-on classes is required and can be made by calling the Fiction and Reference Desk, 349-3228. If you are unable to attend, please call to cancel, so that we may offer the space to someone else. Classes will be in the Public Computing Center.

 

 

Web Basics

Search Strategies

Just starting out on the World Wide Web? This class covers the basic skills needed:

  • Navigating the web with a browser
  • Clicking on links
  • Moving up and down a web page
  • Typing in a web address
  • Finding information with a subject directory
  • Using a search engine
This class meets once for 90 minutes. Keyboard and mouse skills recommended.

Do you have some experience with the web but sense you could search better? Discover techniques that can improve your results:

  • Limiting your search to make it more relevant to your needs
  • Using keyword strategies
  • Finding images
  • Using specialized search engines
  • Getting the most from Google
